The American Dream is a special image to me.
I was at the Oakland Public Library and noticed the flag when I arrived. A few hours later I was fortunate to capture this moment as the kid was walking up the steps and turned back to look at me. The symbolism of the black youth under the American Flag is powerful.
This image was also part of a silent auction at SOMArts Cultural Center. It’s the first image I printed and first image that sold. The American Dream.
